Do your kids need to make some fast cash? Have a lemonade stand. I'm kidding. Sort of. Having one was on my kids' summer fun list, and the insane profit they made of $38 was just that, insane. Nugget hoped to make enough money to buy some ice cream. Mission accomplished.

Nugget wanted to make pink lemonade, and the real deal. Freshly squeezed. We'll thank Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink for that. We used this recipe (click here) but added some mashed strawberries first. We let them seep for a bit and strained them out before serving.

Once we were set up and ready, we sent out a text to all our best local peeps, and surprise! They came! It helps when Daddy sends over his painting crew :)

We were so busy pouring and serving, that we didn't realize our profits until later that day.

We knew just who to thank for dropping a roll of silver dollars into our jar. Since the kids raised more than we were hoping for, Nick and I discussed what we should have them do with it. We knew we wanted to make it a lesson in helping others and giving back, but it needed to be something a four and two year old would understand. We tossed around a few ideas before deciding to call our local Peace Center (a food shelf) and asked what their needs were. We were informed that they could use toothbrushes and toothpaste. Perfect timing as Nugget had a dentist appointment that same week! Talk about a teachable moment!

So the kids and I headed to the store where we loaded up on toothbrushes, and I actually said yes to their requests for the big bouncy balls that day! I mean, how could I not?! They were half off and they had their own money!

We then drove over to the Peace Center and made our delivery, where we were warmly welcomed by several sweet elderly ladies. They loved the kids' story so much that it made them load my kids up with sweet treats, like fruit snacks and snickers. You know they weren't about to turn that down.
As we were heading to a nearby park to go bounce those obnoxiously big balls, Nugget proclaimed that it had been so much fun and that she wanted to do it again. I'm sure the snickers had something to do with it, but I'll take it!
